About DeskCheckup

DeskCheckup is a free set of online tests for your webcam, microphone, keyboard, mouse, screen sharing and display, running entirely in your browser.

Last updated: October 10, 2026

DeskCheckup helps you answer one question quickly: is my hardware working, and if not, why? Whether you are about to join an important call, setting up a new desk, or checking a used laptop before buying it, you can test each device in a few seconds, without installing anything.

What you can test

  • Pre-Call Check: microphone, webcam and screen sharing in one guided run, in about two minutes.
  • Microphone test: a live level meter to check that your mic is detected and loud enough.
  • Webcam test: a local preview to check framing, lighting and image quality.
  • Keyboard test: press every key to find dead, stuck or double-typing keys.
  • Mouse test: clicks, double-clicks, scroll wheel and pointer movement.
  • Screen sharing test: share a screen, window or tab and check what others would see.
  • Dead pixel test: full-screen solid colors to spot dead or stuck pixels.

Private by design

Every test runs in your browser using standard web technologies. Your camera image, your voice and your keystrokes are processed on your own device: they are never recorded, and never sent to our servers. The browser asks for your permission before any test can use your camera, microphone or screen, and you can stop it at any time. The details are in our privacy policy.

Troubleshooting guides

When a test shows a problem, the blog explains how to fix it. The guides go step by step, from the 10-second checks to driver and system settings, for Windows and macOS, with the fixes that solve most cases first.

Free to use

DeskCheckup is free and requires no account. To cover hosting and development costs, the site may display ads. Ads never have access to your camera, microphone, screen or test results.
